A Prayer from Poverty
[I looked from the rim of the Valley of Poverty into the minds of those living therein, and I heard their quiet voices praying in chorus:]
Holly Father, do not give us daily bread.
Let us assume the responsibility for our lives.
Let us prove that we are not freeloaders,
as someone, disdainfully, in hiding said
of us, your children (brothers, sisters, and wives).
My Lord, we, not moochers, are legitimate voters;
but someone said, “I will not worry for these people”,
and added, “they live off the government nipples”,
believing we think “we are entitled to food and health”.
But Father, we work, pay our dues, and seek no wealth”.
All we ask for is a fair chance and equal opportunities;
while they abide by the same rules, paying their fair share.
Lord, we ask you to remove their privileges and immunities,
and we promise you we’ll work for our families with love and care.
We are your people looking for the Promised Land.
We are not slackers, we know You understand.
Help us, Lord, thank you; Amen, Amen, Amen.

If we could only REMOVE THE EGOTISM AND SELFISHNESS FROM INSIDE OURSELVES, WE COULD ACTUALLY SHARE THE BENEFITS OF THE FREEDOM WE GAINED; OUR LIVES COULD REACH THE GENERAL WELFARE, TRANQUILITY, JUSTICE, AND HAPPINESS WE SEEK. mas-07.29.2020.
